Surroundings

The village of Montmagastre belongs to the municipality of Artesa de Segre, in the Noguera region, province of Lleida. It has 22 inhabitants and consists of a group of scattered farmhouses located at the foot of Montmagastre Hill, which rises to 763 meters and dominates the area.

In the past, the village was a walled settlement next to the castle, situated on the hillside where the streets and remains of houses can still be seen amidst the vegetation. At the top of the hill lies the Collegiate Church of San Miguel, documented as a canonical abbey since 1085, along with the remnants of the old castle, which was of great significance during medieval times.

The Noguera region and its surroundings are rich in heritage, landscapes, gastronomy, a wealth of customs, traditions, festivals, and many opportunities for adventure sports. Here is a glimpse of what it has to offer.
