History

The history of Cal Camats dates back to the 13th century when it was an old fortified manor house with a gateway leading to the main courtyard. We still preserve the original chapel from 1658, where masses were held for the lords and the young workers of the house. In the past, it also served as a resting hostel for travelers who journeyed along the Roman road connecting Isona and Ponts.

An old and big house with a rich history. Its stones could tell stories of the Napoleonic troops passing through and the soldiers and prisoners who stayed during the last civil war. Life revolved around the land: animals were tended, grain was harvested, grapes were turned into wine, and olives were pressed in an on-site mill where locals would come to process their olives. The house also produced honey and raised silkworms, which were later sold. It was a meeting point for sheep flocks descending from the mountains in search of better climates and pastures.

With our dedication to providing the best service, we have opened the rooms of our house in their best version, offering freshness and comfort to satisfy the most demanding guests. Surrounded by vast wooded landscapes and fields of crops, you can enjoy long excursions and explore our extensive historical, archaeological, architectural, and scenic heritage.
